I was driving home, and the Spirit gave me a word, blameless. This is how we should be described and a status we must strive to maintain as we navigate life.
This makes all the more sense when you realize that constant accusations are being made about you.
There is a terrible one whose main job is to find fault in your life and use it to discredit the promise that’s been given to you.
Let us read this scripture together:
1 Peter 5:8–9 (NLT)
8Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.
9Stand firm against him, and be strong in your faith. Remember that your family of believers all over the world is going through the same kind of suffering you are.
Apostle Peter speaking here gives us a clear warning: STAY ALERT!
We must always be mindful of what aspects of our lives can be used against us.
Anything you say and do can and will be used against you, but this can only be effective if we do not find ourselves blameless before the Throne of God.
Being blameless is like having an all-white outfit; it’s pristine. Every time you sin, you stain that garment, and the devil's role is to point out every one of those imperfections.
If there is, in fact, a stain on that garment, as much as a liar the devil is, he becomes a truth-teller when he points out that stain. That now requires God to keep His word.
Romans 6:23 (NLT)
23For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.
The wages of sin is death - so that stain necessitates a dying that must occur. Not a physical death but a spiritual death, which is separation from God.
When you are separated from God, it’s like losing your security detail - whatever happens to you is on you.
See the case of Adam and Eve. That death caused them to be removed from the Garden of Eden, the place with the most security and provision.
But there is a remedy.
Thanks be to God, the Father of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ - who can present us Blameless before the Throne of God by gifting us His righteousness.
Colossians 1:21–23 (NLT)
21This includes you who were once far away from God. You were his enemies, separated from him by your evil thoughts and actions.
22Yet now he has reconciled you to himself through the death of Christ in his physical body. As a result, he has brought you into his own presence, and you are holy and blameless as you stand before him without a single fault.
23But you must continue to believe this truth and stand firmly in it. Don’t drift away from the assurance you received when you heard the Good News. The Good News has been preached all over the world, and I, Paul, have been appointed as God’s servant to proclaim it.
This is our testimony.
This is what we will study in the subsequent few sessions.
We will resume Tuesday, May 28, 2024, IN PERSON at BCOR.
For our out-of-state co-laborers, a Zoom link will be provided.
